Welcome to Daydreamer Running!

“Don’t quit your daydream”…

“I want to run the Boston Marathon someday”

“I want to run in the Olympic Trials in 2028”

“I want to feel confident when I race”

“I want to run faster after I have this baby”

“I want to set a new 5K PR and feel fast again”

“I want to run in college on a scholarship”

The above are just a few of things I’ve heard from athletes the past few years. While many of us run for fun, simply enjoying the rhythmic plop plop of our feet — it is also possible to run for fun and think: “What if? What if I could run faster, run more confident, sign up for my first half marathon, crush the family 5K record…what if?”

Daydreamer Running has been on my heart and mind for quite a while now. While I loved coaching in the NCAA, when I started coaching “regular” athletes online in 2020, I discovered a new area of coaching that really resonated with me. I don’t have the typical running background that many “good” runners do. I didn’t run high school cross country or get recruited by top college programs - heck, I didn’t even start running until I was in college! As I’ve coached online athletes from all different backgrounds and walks of life, I have been continually blown away and inspired by the work ethic, the drive, and the dreams of my athletes. Many are busy moms who get up before the sun to get their training in on a garage treadmill with a baby monitor nearby. Some are busy working professionals who are juggling careers like farmer, chef, interior designer, nurse, police officer along with their daily mileage. A few are hugely talented and working odd jobs to support themselves as they hammer out 100+ mile weeks with an Olympic Trials qualifying time on the horizon. What do they all have in common? A dream to be the best version of themselves in this sport, to find their limits and maybe go beyond them.

While there are quite a few online coaching options out there, many of them have huge roster sizes where athletes end up feeling like just another number, cheap but getting copied and pasted workouts, or they have a tiered-plan system where communication is very limited unless you pay for the highest price plan (which is often quite expensive). Or my biggest personal pet peeve is run coaching offered by fast runners, with no real experience on the coaching side of things. Running fast does not qualify you to coach! But I digress…

I wanted to create something different with Daydreamer Running. A place where everyday or sub-elite athletes could get personalized coaching along with holistic modalities to set them up for success - like strength training, mental work, and the feeling of being on a team with other athletes cheering for you through the ups and downs of the running journey.

Like many of you reading this, I have lots of dreams - my own personal running dream (can I be fast still after having babies and run faster than my 2:52 marathon PR?) and many other personal and career-related dreams. One thing I know, dreams don’t work for themselves! I am excited for the process of what’s ahead, and I hope you’ll join me!
