Meet Coach Abby

My running (and coaching) journey has been unconventional, like many of the athletes that I coach now! I didn’t run in high school, in fact, I didn’t start running until college and my first race was a marathon! Then when I started my master’s MBA program, I joined my university’s XC/Track team as a walk-on. It was quite a shock going from marathon training to 5K/10K training! While I got faster and set new PR’s, my life was changed by my amazing coaches and I switched career plans from going to law school to coaching and hopefully making an impact on people’s lives just like I had been helped my by mentors and coaches who believed in me and showed me running was so much more than splits on the stopwatch.

After completing several exercise science and coaching courses and working with NCAA D1 programs as an operations and assistant distance coach, I also started taking coaching clients in 2020 when the pandemic hit. Since then, I have coached dozens of runners to new PR’s, ranging from the mile to the marathon!

In 2022, I got married to my husband, Matt, an officer in the United States Marine Corps. Because of his job and how often we move around, I left college coaching for the time being, but my love for coaching has lived on. I have day dreamed (you see what I did there? ;)) of starting my own coaching business for some time, a place where runners can expect to find a coach that truly cares about them and with all the resources they need to be successful. I am so excited to launch Daydream Running into the world and can’t wait to be a part of your running dreams!

I currently live in coastal North Carolina with my husband, our baby boy, Brooks. I’m learning to love stroller running and am excited to start racing again postpartum!

“We all need someone in our corner. My goal as a coach is to be with you every step of the way, working together towards reaching those goals! ”
